During the summer nesting season, clearance can take place but careful checks need to be made and findings recorded. Uncut exclusion zones can be set around active nests to comply with best practice and keep within the Wildlife and Countryside Act.
Finding nesting birds can delay a construction project for several weeks until the fledglings have left the nest.
Twig can undertake:
- Sensitive clearance
- Tree felling
- Hedge cutting
Wild bird populations are an important indicator of the health of the countryside, and knowing to what extent bird populations are increasing or decreasing is fundamental to bird conservation.
We also advise on and implement mitigation measures such as:
- Installing boxes (e.g. swift boxes) for nesting birds
- Managing the habitat to encourage target species
All wild birds, their nests and young are protected throughout England and Wales by the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981.
